“David is the epitome of an active, involved, thoughtful member executive. The engagement and leadership he brings to the Tennessee Business Roundtable enhances the already-thriving, Tennessee-centric organization.” -Patrick Sheehy, President

TENNESSEE BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE

David brought Pickler Wealth Advisors into the Tennessee Business Roundtable (TBR) in 2018, after the organization connected with him and the Tennessee School Boards Association to work on a joint project.

In September of 2019, the Roundtable created four Policy Councils as convening mechanisms for member executives around each of our organization’s four main policy areas – Competitiveness, Education, Health, and Workforce. David was chosen by his peers to serve as Chair of the Education Council by acclamation. He has served with distinction ever since.

In 2020, while serving on the Education Council, David met Cassie Foote who was the Director of Operations for TBR. While talking with her, she mentioned that she would be moving back to Memphis from Nashville in the coming months due to a career change for her husband. Because of Cassie’s passion for workforce development, which happened to be a focus for our non-profit foundation, the American Public Education Foundation, David offered her a job. She accepted the position of Assistant Executive Director and, to this day, helps lead our foundation in the areas of financial literacy and workforce development.

In 2021, David was appointed by 2021 Chair Matt Kisber to serve on the Nominating Committee, charged with assembling a slate of member-executive nominees for election to the Board of Directors for 2022. As part of the Nominating Committee, along with Patrick Sheehy, President of TBR, David determined that the organization needed a drastic reorganization of the leadership structure. The current bureaucratic structure wasn’t working and, for the organization to thrive, something had to be done. David and Pat got to work and, in six weeks, completely overhauled the process of selecting leaders, streamlining the process for years to come.

In early 2022, David accepted re-appointment as Education Council chair. David and three other Council chairs now also serve as appointed Directors on the Board.

In November of 2022, David was asked to serve as Chair Elect for the state-wide organization.

In June 2023, David took on the role of host for the Tennessee Business Roundtable, overseeing a two-day event held at the state-of-the-art Pickler Event Centre. The occasion was graced by distinguished guest speakers, including the President & CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber, Ted Townsend, as well as Representative Kevin Vaughan and Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane. The event provided an invaluable platform for meaningful discussions and networking opportunities, solidifying its position as a significant gathering for business leaders and community stakeholders alike.
