Our Community

Community Involvement

Winston Churchill once stated that “we make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” We are inheritors of a legacy forged by generations who embrace community leadership and civic engagement as essential ingredients of citizenship.

Pickler Wealth Advisors was founded on the principle that success is only achieved when we are viewed as significant in the lives of the clients and communities we serve. We have been blessed to have the support of our amazing clients in our firm’s twin pillars of advisory excellence and community engagement. Pickler Wealth Advisors reflects the passion for the community of its founder David Pickler. David has built his personal and professional life on the principles of community service, civic leadership, and philanthropic investment. David was elected to Shelby County School Board of Education in 1998 and has served as chairman for the past ten years.  He serves on the Executive Board of the Tennessee School Boards Association and will be association President in 2009.  In July, 2008, David was selected to serve as the Southern Region Director for the National School Boards Association. He has twice been honored as Tennessee School Board Member of the Year.

David is actively involved with Memphis Oral School for the Deaf where David serves as Chairman of their board and coordinated their capital campaign and construction of MOSD’s first permanent home in Germantown, Tennessee.

David’s passion for our community is demonstrated though his dedication to community service, volunteerism, and leadership development.  David has been an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America for over two decades.  He has served as Cub Master, Boy Scout leader, and as Council Vice President for the Chickasaw Council.  He has served on the national staff for the past three Boy Scout National Jamborees and is the National Boy Scout Council Representative.  He has chaired the biennial Scout Base since 2000.  Under David’s leadership, Scout Base has grown to become America’s largest council sponsored event delivering “Scouting at its Best” to over 15,000 scouts.

Long recognized as the outstanding community service organization in the City of Germantown, the Kiwanis Club delivers excellence in supporting the children of our area.  During his year as President, David earned recognition as Distinguished Club President and the Germantown Club was recognized as the outstanding club in the District.  David served as Governor of the Great and Historic Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District for 2007-2008.  As Governor, David established the first permanent District Major  Emphasis Project, an initiative to place at least one Automated External Defibrillator in every school in Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Tennessee.

In order that his philanthropic efforts may be sustained, David has established the Pickler Foundation.  This foundation is dedicated to supporting children’s charities and educational initiatives throughout our community.  The foundation will be endowed on an annual basis through donations from Pickler Wealth Advisors and the Pickler Law Firm.  It is David’s intent to leave a legacy founded upon his beliefs of community investment and civic engagement.
